Directors Victor Bonacore and Jim VanBebber are pooling their working once again for 2 fundraisers, both of which will take place in New York. Both directors have projects just on the horizon. Bonacore is completing work on his documentary about VanBebber and VanBebber himself is in the process of funding his upcoming flick, Gator Green. If you’re in the Long Island and Brooklyn areas, we highly recommend you check these events out. The money goes to furthering some great filmmakers AND you get to see some kick ass movies in the process.
Vic contacted us with the info for the upcoming events. The details are as follows:
New York will be host to two separate event/screenings showcasing underground filmmaker Jim Vanbebber‘s past work to help get the ball rolling on his newest feature film GATOR GREEN. Jim Vanbebber is an extreme artist in every sense of the word. Sometimes referred to as the “Outlaw Filmmaker,” Jim’s films will get two special & rare public screening in the New York area this summer that are not to be missed.
The first event will take place at Brooklyn Fireproof in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday June 30th at 8:00pm. This event will feature VHS screenings of the short films MY SWEET SATAN & THE LAST DAYS OF JOHN MARTIN and the feature film DEADBEAT AT DAWN. There will also be live performance from THE WILL, THE SAVAGE SEX BOYS, and ex-HUNCHBACK members Mike & Craig performing all the hits for just one night only. All this for just $5, with the proceeds going toward Jim Vanbebber’s new film GATOR GREEN!
The second event will take place on LONG ISLAND, New York at the signature art house theatre THE CINEMA ARTS CENTER on Tuesday, July 3rd at 7:30pm in Huntington. This event will feature the short film MY SWEET SATAN (about Long island serial Killer Ricky Kasso) making its long Island Premier, and To cap off the night, a super rare, 35mm print screening of his cult film THE MANSON FAMILY. The film that Roger Ebert said “…has an undeniable power and effect, but be sure you understand what you are getting yourself into. This is not a “horror” film or an “underground” film, but an act of transgression so extreme and uncompromised…”- 3 stars.
This event is $14 with a portion of the proceeds going towards the production of Gator Green. Both events will have an exclusive video introduction by Jim Vanbebber himself. http://www.cinemaartscentre.org
