Not many films have impacted me the way thatJaws has. It still, to this day, fascinates and terrifies me (seriously, I have a hard time getting into a pool because of that movie). It is a rare occurrence these days that much of anything new happens regarding the film. The last major events were the The Shark Is Still Working documentary, which still hasn’t made it to home viewing audiences and the unfortunate passing of the films star, Roy Scheider.
So you can imagine how thrilled I was to read that the long lost mechanical Jaws shark had been found in a Los Angeles junk yard by Jaws super fan and reporter, Cory Turner. Turner had set out to find the shark after learning that an additional “Bruce” (named after Spielberg’s lawyer) shark had been manufactured and was only used on display at Universal Studios. In 1990, the shark had been taken down and disappeared. Turner, curious as to what happened to the decommissioned monster, called Spielberg’s office directly where he was told that all of the sharks had been destroyed.
Well, the power of the internet prevailed and Turner started to uncover clues that the shark that had resided at Universal Studios was still out there.
He began making phone calls and soon, his search led him to a junkyard not 15 minutes away from Universal where he met up with the original Jaws art department members Joe Alves and Roy Arbogast, who did indeed confirm that it was the real deal.
It has not yet been determined what will happen to Bruce but for now, he is safe and sound and hopefully, he’ll be shared with the world again.

Awesome!!!!
