There’s good news and then there’s “HOLY SHIT OMF’NG TEARS TEARS TEARS I SHIT MYSELF!!!!!!!!!” news. Consider this the latter. The lovely folks at MPI/Dark Sky Films are honoring the 40th birthday of (in my opinion) the greatest horror film of all time, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, with a gorgeous remastering.
The remastering was a 5 month project (40 hour work weeks) that director Tobe Hooper says “…is the best the film has ever looked”. The project (done at NOLO Digital Film in Chicago) was overseen by Todd Weineke of Dark Sky Films, as well as having Hooper himself even taking part. This print of TCM is debuting at the SXSW Festival on Monday, March 10th at the Topfer Theatre. Get your asses there, Austin!!!! From there, a schedule will be released for screenings throughout the U.S.
Excited? Am I excited?! That’s not the proper word. The feeling is closer to how Eastern Europeans used to react at Michael Jackson concerts. That. It goes without saying that we’ll keep you posted.
