What we are looking for:
We are looking for Horror Fiction, pure and simple. Make it classic, modern, gory, noir, whatever you want, as long as it’s scary.
We strongly prefer stories under 5,000 words long. We will consider stories up to 7,500 words, but the longer the story; the less likely that it will be selected. The word count limit is not set in stone; we may be interested in posting stories as serials, for example.
We also are not interested in partial stories. Don’t send us a half-finished story to see if we like it; please finish it first.
We have no minimum word count requirement so long as the story is complete.
How to submit:
* In the body of the email please include:
* Your name, pen name if any, address and email address, and brief bio.
* Include a brief summary of the story and word count.
* Attach the story in a standard formatted .rtf or .doc document
* The subject of the email should read “Submission: ‘Title of your story’.”
Please do not send us your story until you have thoroughly proofread it. Accepted submissions may be subject to editing for small errors or clarity issues. We will not make major changes to any story without discussing it with the author first. Submissions that do not meet minimum standards for correct spelling and grammar will be rejected, except in cases of obvious artistic license. Spell-check can be useful, but it is not foolproof by any means. The best practice is to ask a person to read it over for you.
The Blood Sprayer is currently a non-paying market for fiction, but we offer exposure, and we would love to hear from new, unpublished authors.
We are currently looking to post 3-4 original stories a month. The writer maintains ownership and control of any stories that are posted here. We do not accept previously published stories unless the author has all rights to said story. We do accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know if your story is purchased by another publication. We do not accept multiple submissions, but if your story is not chosen to be posted, then you are welcome to submit a different one.
Thank you for reading, and good luck!
