A while ago, I announced the coming of Silent Retreat, director Tricia Lee’s first feature-length film, to two theaters in Canada. Sort of a “only applies to a few people” announcement. Well, I’m happy to report that I have news about the movie that will apply to a lot more people: on September 2, Silent Retreat will be released on DVD in Canada by Black Fawn Distribution, and will be released on VOD and digital platforms across the United States. Here’s the trailer to this creepy, awesome-looking horror movie again:
And the synopsis:
“Silent Retreat tells the story of Janey Andrews (Chelsea Jenish), a troubled youth sent to a silent meditation retreat in the middle of the woods to be rehabilitated. She discovers that the Doctor (Robert Nolan) who runs the retreat is after more than just her voice, and if Janey doesn’t follow his rules, she’ll discover the terrible secret that lurks beyond the trees, and find out what happens to those who don’t embrace the silence.”
I’m really excited for this one. I’m even now getting the impression this might be a monster movie, and I think by now we all know how much I love the creature features.
Look for it September 2! (And if you’re in the US and were hoping for the DVD, I don’t know exactly when it’ll be out, but rest assured it’s coming soon.)
