MTV True Life: Paranormal Activity, or “Delivery: The Beast Within”

Delivery: The Beast Within (aka Delivery) is coming to theaters and VOD this month. LA-based entertainment management and production company The Collective is releasing the film, which is scheduled for a limited run in theaters in New York, Chicago, Indianapolis, LA, and San Diego beginning May 30th. It will be released on VOD on May 27th. As per the usual order of things, I’ve got a clip below for you:

This movie is giving me shades of the show MTV: True Life, of which I have seen many episodes (I’m Dating a Mama’s Boy, I Hate My Plastic Surgery, I’m a Wise Latina, I Can’t Leave My Boyfriend, etc.). I never had any desire to watch an entire feature-length film of an MTV: True Life, though. At least they did a good job with the reality television imitation part? Here’s the synopsis:

“Directed by Brian Netto and produced by Adam Schindler (who also co-wrote the screenplay with Netto), DELIVERY: THE BEAST WITHIN stars Laurel Vail, Danny Barclay, and Rob Cobuzio in the paranormal thriller that has been generating buzz since it premiered last summer at the L.A. Film Festival.

DELIVERY: THE BEAST WITHIN tells the story of Kyle and Rachel Massy, a young couple who agree to document their first pregnancy for a family-oriented reality show. As the camera continues to capture strange events, Rachel begins to believe that a malevolent spirit has possessed their unborn child. Told through the show’s un-aired footage and interviews with friends, family and production members, this savvy debut feature leverages the voyeuristic properties of reality television to present a fresh perspective on classic horror themes of possession and the paranormal– and delivers enough eeriness to keep you on the edge of your seat.”

And here’s another clip:

This mess is like MTV: True Life and Paranormal Activity with a touch of Rosemary’s Baby thrown in. And all of them have been done before and better. I can’t. The acting is forced, the storyline is borrowed, and I’m tired of this stuff. But if you’re interested, out on VOD May 27th, and in select theaters May 30th. Hopefully, it’s better than the trai

I'm a regular contributing writer to this website. I got into horror movies through the sci-fi monster films I watched with my dad as a kid (ex. Aliens) and the extreme amounts of zombie movies I spent a good portion of my college career watching. I absolutely love zombies (obviously), am a sucker for a low budget (or any) monster movie, and adore horror-comedy films. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is one of my favorite books, and I'm still waiting for an actually decent film adaptation to bring that fantastic novel to life. Outside of my life as a horror fan, I'm a writer and editor with dreams of turning my screenplays into movies and a love of wine and murder mysteries.
