IFC Midnight Release, Entrance Might Require Valium For the Anxiety Attack

I am not a fan of the words “psychological thriller”. They make me think of the Oscars and how horror movies get snubbed at the Oscars. When a horror picture does make it big they are labeled with this much despised phrase. That being said this psychological thriller looks fantastic. The trailer is alluring (you like, you let us know below).  I’m a fan of most of what IFC Midnight has been putting out lately although they border on “artsy” for me (that’s a word I’m sure ya’ll hate as much as I hate psychological thriller). I think there’s a renewed trend to attempt to imitate the cinematography of Brian DePalma. This is the second release recently that I can say has that feeling. I’m okay with that. It stands to reason if we’re going retro everything that we might see a few mad geniuses imitated from time to time. Keep you eyes out for this and a few other IFC Midnight flicks bobbing to the surface.

ENTRANCE is a riveting new psychological thriller from newcomers Dallas Hallam and Patrick Horvath, exploring the thin line between anxiety and naked horror in the life of Suzy (SUZIEY BLOCK), a young woman in Los Angeles who can’t get comfortable in her own skin. A loner who wallows in nostalgia and finds herself wandering aimlessly through life in the city, she can’t shake the gnawing suspicion that a true menace grows just outside her field of vision. As she scrambles to take control of her life, her anxiety rises to a fever pitch that boils over into a waking nightmare.   An official selection of the Los Angeles Film Festival, ENTRANCE is an intimate character study directed with a formalist restraint. Suziey Block’s fearless performance injects both terror and poise as this uniquely-styled thriller climbs from spark to inferno.

In Theaters and Available Nationwide on IFC Midnight Cable VOD and Digital Outlets (SundanceNOW, iTunes, Amazon Streaming, XBOX Zune, Playstation Unlimited) on May 18, 2012.

Dr. Jimmy Terror, more commonly known as James P. Harris, has been “writing your eyes” shut since 2010 with his horror themed blog Dr. Terror’s Blog of Horrors (whose name is a play on words derived from the Amicus film, Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors). In the early 2000’s he fronted the band The Vaudeville Vampires, a short-lived Horrorabilly band which saw the creation of a catalog of horror related songs before disbanding (with only one, six song demo ever being produced and distributed). He has had only one on screen appearance to date in the horror/suspense short, Ocean Parkway, as maniacal, gloved killer with a hair fetish. Having done some un-credited, behind the scenes work in some low budget genre pictures, he is currently working on his first foray into screenwriting with a demonic, retro gore entry that pays homage to Lucio Fulci, Dario Argento as well as other Italian masters of the genre.
