The Battle of the Damned Begins February 18th, 2014

Anchor Bay’s Battle of the Damned has zombies and robots. That’s pretty much all you need to know. It comes out on DVD and Blu-ray February 18th; pre-book for both Blu-ray and DVD begins January 22nd. Here’s the trailer filled with awesomeness:

Battle of the Damned is written and directed by Christopher Hatton (RobotropolisSammyville) and stars Dolph Lundgren (Universal Soldier, The Expendables) and Esteban Cueto (Fast Five, Iron Man 2: two pretty sweet movies).

Fun Fact: Did you know Dolph Lundgren has a master’s degree in chemical engineering and was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to MIT? I didn’t either. I found out while I was reading his IMDb biography (I’m addicted to those and forever looking people up on that site and Wikipedia to learn more about them). I’m extremely impressed with Dolph; clearly, he’s a super intelligent guy (which isn’t terribly obvious if you’ve seen his films in my opinion). I love it.

Anyway, the synopsis of the film is as follows:

“When a deadly virus is accidentally released into a major city, its population is quarantined by military blockade. And for a wealthy industrialist desperate to rescue his daughter from inside the rabid chaos, his only hope is former commando Max Gatling (Lundgren). Now Gatling has one day to bust in, blast through hordes of the undead, find the girl, and hunt for a way to get them both out alive. But will a small band of survivors and an army of killer robots turn his mission into maximum slaughter? Matt Doran (THE MATRIX) and David Field (CHOPPER) co-star in this intense action shocker that TheActionElite.com calls ‘awesome badass…one of the craziest movies of Dolph’s career and arguably one of his best!'”

Sounds pretty fucking cool; looks like a super fun movie. For further proof of the awesomeness of this movie, here’s a clip:

I’m definitely gonna see this one. Can’t wait till February 18th! Before I go, I’ve included the technical information about the Blu-ray and DVD (price, pre-book date, etc.) below, for those of you who are interested.

I'm a regular contributing writer to this website. I got into horror movies through the sci-fi monster films I watched with my dad as a kid (ex. Aliens) and the extreme amounts of zombie movies I spent a good portion of my college career watching. I absolutely love zombies (obviously), am a sucker for a low budget (or any) monster movie, and adore horror-comedy films. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is one of my favorite books, and I'm still waiting for an actually decent film adaptation to bring that fantastic novel to life. Outside of my life as a horror fan, I'm a writer and editor with dreams of turning my screenplays into movies and a love of wine and murder mysteries.
