Dr. Jimmy Terror, more commonly known as James P. Harris, has been “writing your eyes” shut since 2010 with his horror themed blog Dr. Terror’s Blog of Horrors (whose name is a play on words derived from the Amicus film, Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors). In the early 2000’s he fronted the band The Vaudeville Vampires, a short-lived Horrorabilly band which saw the creation of a catalog of horror related songs before disbanding (with only one, six song demo ever being produced and distributed). He has had only one on screen appearance to date in the horror/suspense short, Ocean Parkway, as maniacal, gloved killer with a hair fetish. Having done some un-credited, behind the scenes work in some low budget genre pictures, he is currently working on his first foray into screenwriting with a demonic, retro gore entry that pays homage to Lucio Fulci, Dario Argento as well as other Italian masters of the genre.

IFC Midnight Release, Entrance Might Require Valium For the Anxiety Attack

IFC Midnight Release, Entrance Might Require Valium For the Anxiety Attack

Tweet I am not a fan of the words “psychological thriller”. They make me think of the Oscars and how horror movies get snubbed at the Oscars. When a horror picture does make it big they are labeled with this much despised phrase. That being said this psychological thriller looks fantastic. The trailer is alluring […]

THEATRE OF THE DERAGED: Psykik Junky Brings The Rabble Together

THEATRE OF THE DERAGED: Psykik Junky Brings The Rabble Together

Tweet My experience thus far with Psykik Junky has been pretty good. While I admit that the production quality of the films they put out aren’t always top notch, they are trying to keep up the splatter cinema we love for the indy’s we hope will break it big. This release is a perfect example […]

[REC]3 Poster Promises a Bit of the Old Grindhouse

Tweet While the trailer for REC3 has been out for some time we urge you to check out this new poster that’s hit the net. Now it’s not entirely clearly how this imagery will play into the new sequel to this demon, POV cam series with a hint of the plague and a good look at […]

IFC Midnight Releases Penumbra April 20th: Beware The Apartment

IFC Midnight Releases Penumbra April 20th: Beware The Apartment

Tweet The good folks at IFC Midnight are putting out a new film that is supposed to invoke feelings of Roman Polanski. Since the protagonist is looking for a tenant I’m inclined to think of the apartment trilogy. I’m not the biggest fan of this trilogy as far as content, but if we’re talking about […]

Red Scorpion: The Blu Ray Release That Thinks It Can Control You

Red Scorpion: The Blu Ray Release That Thinks It Can Control You

Tweet We here at the Blood Sprayer are big supporters of Synapse Films. They’re good people who make a complete package product and have a kick ass logo. Let this new release be considered no different. Dolph Lundgren isn’t only the Russian Ivan Drago in Rocky IV ya know. He’s something more. He stars in […]

Lovely Molly: Haxan Films Explores The Unspeakable Acts of Which Newlyweds are Capable

Lovely Molly: Haxan Films Explores The Unspeakable Acts of Which Newlyweds are Capable

Tweet Haxan Films and Eduardo Sanchez, the crew behind the Blair Witch Project, want to scare us again. From the trailer and promo materials I’ve seen thus far it looks like they plan to do it using a mixed shooting style of POV, camcorder footage and narrative third party, standard cinematography. While a few films […]

Thou Shalt Not Kill… Except or Beyond Biloxi Blues, On Blu Ray/DVD Combo

Tweet This sucker’s confirmed! Synapse does it again with a damn fine Blu Ray/DVD release of Thou Shalt Not Kill Except. It’s everything you might remember from earlier viewing with some excellent special features and nice transfer. It’s not the best transfer Synapse has put out, but the quality of the initial release didn’t leave […]

THE WICKER TREE: Even Cowgirls Get Attacked by Pagans

THE WICKER TREE: Even Cowgirls Get Attacked by Pagans

Tweet Hey at least it’s not another remake right? That’s what I’ve heard said about The Wicker Tree. You know what else I’ve heard? That’s a fine movie that plays to all the original film’s strengths, but can’t possibly touch the original. Yeah, I’ll go with that. I’ll also say that it’s a fun movie […]

Double Feature Review: The Sweet Hand of the White Rose AND The Puzzle

Double Feature Review: The Sweet Hand of the White Rose AND The Puzzle

Tweet It’s not very often that we receive two pieces of short film at that same time to review for the same director. Needless to say that this fits in with the retro/grindhouse vibe we like to offer our readers here at the Blood Sprayer. Give a great big bloody hug to Davide Melini, Italian […]

The Wicker Tree: Sequel to the Wicker Man May Have Some Bark

The Wicker Tree: Sequel to the Wicker Man May Have Some Bark

Tweet So you know how all these remakes are making the horror community flippity flop around like a bunch of fish gasping for the air of fresh material? Well, how about a sequel rather than a remake? Chris Lee makes it back to some pretty creepy roots to bring us The Wicker Tree. Before you […]

The Terror Experiment: Hypothesis Test Coming Out on DVD April

Tweet If the scientific method dictates anything about the release of a movie than this puppy should have you think what happen when John Huges directs an undead flick based on a novel by S.E. Hinton. The Terror Experiment starring Robert Carradine (Revenge of the Nerds), Judd Nelson (The Breakfast Club), C. Thomas Howell (The […]

YELLOW Needs Your Green: Help Fund Neo-Giallo Indy Filmmaking

Tweet All I can say is wait till you see the potential swag that might accompany your donation to the film Yellow, neo-giallo in the making. In their own words, The “giallo film revival rolls on”, and I couldn’t agree more.  All we need is the next Goblin to step up to the plate to […]
