Argento’s Deep Red Goes 3-D

deep red posterFinally, for all of you die hard horror fiends out there, there is a glimmer of hope in the turd bucket that has become mainstream horror. It has been just announced that Dario Argento’s 1975 classic Deep Red will be seeing a 3-D remake. Yes, 3-D tends to be poop. We all know that.

Now, this is where the story gets awesome. Deep Red 3-D is advanced negotiations to secure director George A. Romero to helm the project with plans to start filming in Canada this fall.

According to Variety “The Romero-helmed 3-D “Deep Red” redo is being set up as an Italo-Canadian co-production by Italian producer Claudio Argento via his Opera Film shingle. Robbie Little’s The Little Company is pre-selling the pic in Cannes. Claudio Argento, who is Dario’s brother and regular producer, has penned the screenplay for Romero’s redo.”

Romero and Argento have a long history together and they collaborated on Romero’s Dawn of the Dead in which Argento served as a producer. Though they co-directed Two Evil Eyes in 1990, Argento will not be involved in Romero’s remake.
