2nd Annual BUFFALO SCREAMS Line-Up Announced!

2nd Annual BUFFALO SCREAMS Line-Up Announced!

Greetings, readers.  You may remember my exhaustive coverage of last year’s first annual BUFFALO SCREAMS HORROR FILM FESTIVAL.  Well, the Festival is back, and Buffalo is ready to scream longer and louder then ever before…at least, longer and louder than it has since McKinley was shot here.

The Festival was such a success last year that organizers Greg Lamberson and Emil Novak have had to add an extra day of programming to handle the sheer volume of films sent in this time around.  That means FIVE FULL DAYS OF CINEMA, stretching from October 26th through to the 30th.  Unfortunately, due to prior commitments and the fact that my employment is kind of up in the air (I’m working on job-jumping at the moment), I won’t be able to be there full time this year as I was last year.  Hopefully a couple of the other Blood Sprayers in the Western New York region can step in and help out.

As Debbie Rochon was last year’s guest of honor, this year we’re joined by Roy Frumkes, who will be presenting STREET TRASH, THE DEFINITIVE DOCUMENT OF THE DEAD, and SWIRLEE as non-competition showcase pieces; likewise, slasher classic THE BURNING (shot right in my own sleepy suburb of North Tonawanda, 30 years ago, a fact I was unaware of until Greg brought it to my attention) will be presented for a 30th anniversary celebration.  And to top it all off, Emil Novak’s long-awaited zombie epic DECAYED will be screened! Additional guests include actress and filmmaker Melantha Blackthorne, SPFX artist Rod Durick (author of the book Filming the Undead: How to Make Your Own Zombie Movie) and poster artist Tony Mauro.

A couple exciting-looking highlights from the films up for competition include SOMETHING AFTER MIDNIGHT, from Buffalo’s own Sam Qualiana, the man behind SNOW SHARK; ABSENTIA, which just won big at Shriekfest; Bart Masterondi’s THE TELL TALE HEART, starring Debbie Rochon; a German adaptation of “The Colour Out of Space” entitled DIE FARBE that I could practically tear my own face off for missing; and ACID SPIDERS, from Stuart Simpson who won big with EL MONSTRO DEL MAR last year.

Once again, the Buffalo Screams Film Festival will be held at the Screening Room in Amherst, NY, and any and all further information can be found at The Buffalo Screams Website.
